NVH - Noise Vibration and Harshness
Engineered foam products from Fostek Corporation are trusted to provide improved NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) characteristics in vehicles and equipment. Vibration or friction between components can increase wear on components and produce undesirable noise. Foams from Fostek are utilized to decrease noise levels in many environments around machinery, engines, wind noise, anti-squeaking, buzz, rattles, etc. that generate sound waves of different levels.
Fostek’s facilities and processes are ISO/TS 16949:2009 certified to ensure the highest quality products for automotive related products as well as the rest of our family of non-automotive products that are produced in exactly the same documented process.
Our EPDM foams are widely used in the automotive industry as a result of efforts to meet worldwide material standards in new and existing applications. Fostek’s proprietary EPDM foam technology has driven it to the forefront of becoming an excellent candidate for applications previously dominated by “cast PVC” foams or other semi-closed cell EPDM or PVN foams. Our EPDM foams are used for windshield seals, automotive shields that provide both moisture barrier properties and acoustic benefits, as well as improved NVH (noise vibration and harshness) functions.
Fostek foams are used for NVH (noise, vibration, & harshness) seals, gaskets, pads, closure strips, pillar stuffers, door panels, instrument panels, headliners, and more. They have proven highly effective when used for acoustic / sound control in or around windshields, door panels, instrument panels, and headliners. These foam components are used alone or in composite to achieve STL (sound transmission loss) targets in a vehicle component “system”…i.e. a door “system” that includes the metal door, the glass, and the inner cabin door trim panel.
Fostek foams improve NVH functions by delivering outstanding physical properties, mechanical performance, wider functional temperature ranges, and compatibility with wide varieties of pressure sensitive adhesives. Fostek’s EPDM foams also possess a high process capability which allows our products to meet or exceed automotive and non-automotive specifications in certain applications.
